Privacy

To create your birth story, you provide written answers to a series of prompts. These answers are processed once to generate your story and are not retained by us afterwards.

When you make a purchase, our payment provider collects the information needed to process it. We do not see or store your card details.

As with most websites, our hosting infrastructure may briefly process limited technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver and secure the site. This information is not used to identify or profile you.

You are not required to create an account, sign in, or provide your name to use Pearl.

We use the information described above solely to:

• generate your birth story and deliver it to you as a downloadable PDF;
• process your payment; and
• operate, secure and improve our website.

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or use it for any purpose unrelated to providing the Pearl service. Your answers are never used to train any AI model.

We share information only with the third-party providers necessary to operate Pearl:

• an AI provider, which generates your story using Google's Gemini model;
• Stripe, which processes payments; and
• our hosting provider.

Each provider receives only the information required to perform its function.

Some of our service providers process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.

We do not store your answers or your completed story. Once your story is generated, you download it within the same session; we do not keep a copy and cannot retrieve it for you afterwards. Our payment provider retains its own transaction records as it is required to do by law.

The words you write and the resulting PDF belong to you. Pearl's name, prompts, written content, design and software remain our intellectual property; using the service grants you your story, not a licence to reproduce or resell the product itself.

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that measure aggregate visits rather than individuals. We do not use tracking cookies or follow you across other websites.

You may request access to, or correction of, any personal information we hold about you, although we generally retain very little. To make a request, or to raise a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us at hello@pearlbirth.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), Australia's privacy regulator, at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised accordingly.
